Man City's Double Gameweek Starts in Style

Adebayor crushes a perfect side volley to give Man City a 2-0 lead over Bolton... can you say Goal of the Week? Tevez also netted from the penalty spot to make it a perfect two for two on this weeks Last Minute Pick-Up. Lets see how these two fair against Stoke on Saturday.

The Last Minute Pick-Up: Gameweek 26

Man City's double game week

Get ready for some mid-week action as we have some very interesting fixtures coming our way this week. Man City's double game week makes this weeks last minute pick-up none other than the Tevez / Adebayor combo. If you can add one of these strikers to your squad, you are guaranteed to rack up some extra points over your opponents as Man City take on a struggling Bolton and Stoke side.

Looking a midfielders this week, Luka Modric has come into excellent form for Tottenham and although they could not find the net over the weekend at Aston Villa, they dominated play, showing that they are ready to make a serious bid for a top four spot. This week they face off against Mick McCarthy's Wolves, who have the second worst goal differential in the league (-22). Look for the Modric to Defoe connection to generate quite a few points for fantasy managers this Gameweek.

Monday Morning Center-Back

Didier Flying High on an Arsenal Double

Looking back on the weekend of fixtures it is easy to say the cream has risen to the top. Both Drogba and Rooney continued to build on their excellent form as they each found the net over the weekend. It is hard to say who to pick for you team or who to pick as your captain (if you happen to have both), but choosing between these two strikers will be crucial in the upcoming game weeks as the season winds down.

Currently Drogba is a little cheaper than Rooney and is owned by 23% of fantasy managers (vs. Rooney who is 47% owned). The Ivory Coast international scored twice against the Gunners on Sunday, and should have made it three with an absolute cracker of a free kick that found the woodwork. Currently Drogba has more multiple goal games than Rooney this season, and looks poised to deliver a few doubles before the seasons over. With Chelsea's moderate strength of schedule through March and his current form, Drogba (not Terry) looks like the man to give the armband to over the next few weeks.

Live Game Feed: Gameweek 25

Liverpool 1 - 0 Everton; The Merseyside Derby goes to the Reds - Dirk Kuyt showing good form lately with 4 goals in 4 games. He is a great value play at the price of £9.2, especially when only 9.8% owned and is currently the 3rd ranked midfielder in points

Bolton 0 - 0 Fulham; zZzZzZzZzzzzzz....... Fulham miss Zamora, Dempsey & Johnson (out for season) and so do spectators - Damien Duff has not found his form yet with 0 goals & assists in his last four, yet he is owned by 12.8% of fantasy managers.... might be worth a drop

Manchester United 5 - 0 Portsmouth; Can't remember the last time I saw three own goals in a game, Portsmouth surely look like they are ready for relegation; Wayne Rooney continues to be on form, no reason not to own him at this point

Sunderland 1 - 1 Wigan; Kenwyne Jones' second half equalizer gives Sunderland a point; Where in the world has Darren Bent gone? The once red hot striker has cooled off, only 1 goal in his last 4 games

Hull City 2 - 1 Manchester City; Hull City take the upset of the week title with their win over Mancini's men. Tevez & company looked a step behind today, but look for him and Adebayor to pick up the scoring over their next two matches - Bolton (A) and Stoke (H)

England's Captain No More

John Terry wont be jumping for joy today - his captaincy has been stripped from him due to his recent actions with a former teammates wife (for those who have been living under a rock the story can be found here). I wonder how this is going to effect the mentality of Chelsea's back line going into a tight title race with Manchester United....

Also has anyone thought why Chelsea doesn't care about him being their captain?

The Last Minute Pick-Up: Gameweek 25

Looking at the match-ups for Gameweek 25, there are a lot of last minute offensive transfers that look appealing
Anyone of these strikers has the potential to yield 20+ points this week (esp. if made captain) but the true question is which one will provide the most "relative value" for your team. Currently Wayne Rooney is owned by 45% of fantasy managers and if you are a few spots off the lead in your table, I guarantee he is the captain of the #1 team. With only 15 weeks to play, scarcity value is the key i.e. which player owned by the least amount of teams can give you the boost you need late in the season.

That is why this weeks last minute pick-up is Emmanuel Adebayor. He is currently owned by only 3.7% of fantasy managers (after his stint in the African Cup of nations), and he is looking to pick up some goals after watching Tevez steal the show over the past few weeks. Also some additional food for thought, take a look at Man City's upcoming schedule over the next few weeks:
  • Hull City Away
  • Bolton Home
  • Stoke City Away
I am willing to bet Adebayor will do some serious damage over the next few weeks....
